Run Exchange Management Shell as administrator. It will create the AD object in Active Directory and the Office 365 mailbox. The New-RemoteMailbox cmdlet is excellent when you don’t have an AD object in Active Directory. There are two options to create an Office 365 shared mailbox in Exchange Management Shell. Note: The only way to create an Office 365 shared mailbox in Exchange Hybrid is through Exchange Management Shell on-premises. ![]() If you do that, mail flow will not work as expected. ![]() Also, don’t create the shared mailbox in Office 365 Exchange admin center.
